Project Spotlight: Main Street Endodontics
Main Street Endodontics, led by Dr. Ivy Pruitt, is an owner-operated, modern endodontic practice located in a historic 170-year-old bank building. Dr. Ivy Pruitt had previously been employed at another dental practice we renovated in 2022. Through Ideal Practices—a firm dedicated to supporting dental startups—she was introduced to the Wellen Commercial team, making it a natural fit to collaborate on her new venture. Dr. Pruitt envisioned a space reflecting her commitment to patient care and professional excellence, and our team was eager to bring this vision to life. Keep reading for an overview of this exciting project and this month’s spotlight.
Understanding the Client’s Goals
Dr. Pruitt envisioned a practice that provided high-quality endodontic care and created a welcoming and serene environment to reduce patient anxiety. Working closely with Dr. Pruitt and her sister, a Seattle-based designer, the team carefully coordinated design elements like millwork and flooring to match the vision. Our goal for this project was to transform an aging structure into a refreshing, functional, and patient-friendly space.
The Challenge
Upon finding the location, we worked with the building management team to understand the existing systems and complexities of renovating a nearly 170-year-old bank. The floors were covered with over a foot of concrete in some areas, making coring challenging. Additionally, layers of previous renovations had to be removed to bring the space up to modern standards. Transforming this former bank into a state-of-the-art endodontic office required navigating these obstacles to modernize the space while preserving its historical charm.
The Design and Build Process
Through our well-thought-out process, we approach every project with a commitment to sustainability, personalized service, and attention to detail, tailoring the space to its unique operational and contextual needs. The project started with a thorough analysis of the existing structure, which involved detailed planning due to the layered renovations. Construction required careful coring and adjustments to existing infrastructure. Once this groundwork was laid, our team worked with the designer to bring her design vision to life, maintaining clear communication throughout the build.
Final Outcome and Impact
After installing each element—from equipment to custom finishes—we walked through the space with Dr. Pruitt to ensure that every detail met expectations and aligned with the project goals. This project was a great success. Our team worked through challenging construction elements to realize Dr. Pruitt’s vision, transforming an old eyesore into a modern, inviting endodontic office that positively contributes to the revitalization of the Worcester community.
