WEST SUBURBAN GI

To grow the gastroenterology practice he founded in 2021, Dr. Dmitry Finkelberg seized the opportunity to buy a Victorian-era building in Southborough’s downtown historic district. The wood-frame building had a first-floor store front with living quarters above and needed to be completely restructured to create a modern medical clinic. Wellen was recommended to Dr. Finkelberg by our long-time design partner, Phaze Zero, and we were engaged to manage construction.

The 1,660-square-foot project included four exam rooms, support spaces, offices and a reception area with custom cabinetry and furnishings that evokes a warm living room. The project required all new electrical and plumbing systems to support the clinical and administrative areas.

While the first floor was gutted and reconfigured for a medical practice, the design incorporated elements of the Victorian period aesthetic, with custom windows, millwork, ceiling tiles and soffits to conceal mechanical systems.

Because the GI practice was nearing the end of its lease in its existing space, we accelerated this project with an all-hands-on-deck approach and completed work in just 10 weeks, allowing the practice to move in February 2024.
